ANESTHETIC-FREE TEETH CLEANING

In an effort to help you provide the best care possible for your pets, we routinely check the teeth and gums of dogs and cats brought to us for grooming and believe that all dogs would benefit from a professional teeth cleaning.

Most pet’s teeth require regular teeth cleaning to maintain good dental health. If an animal’s teeth and gums are not maintained properly, they can succumb to mouth problems such as gingivitis, tooth loss and periodontal disease. The bacteria from an unhealthy mouth can contribute to a weakened immune system, cause disease and potentially damage some vital organs. A routine of regular teeth cleaning can ward off many of these problems and help maintain the good health of your pet.

You can choose to have your veterinarian do this procedure, where it is usually done under a general anesthesia. Some pet owners have real concerns about subjecting their dog or cat to the unnecessary risk of strong drugs for a routine teeth cleaning. At Double Dog Dare Ya, we understand these concerns and offer teeth cleaning without the use of anesthesia or tranquilizers.

When providing teeth grooming services, we use hand held tools to remove hard scaly calculus with attention to the inside and outside tooth surfaces as well as at the gum line. Your pet is as alert and comfortable during the procedure as when you drop them off and pick them up. As an added convenience, you can schedule an appointment for teeth cleaning on the same day that your pet is groomed. We would be happy to discuss the details of this specific service with you if you would prefer to have your pets’ teeth cleaned without the use of drugs.

When an animal has an extremely advanced case of periodontal disease and requires multiple extractions, it is necessary for your veterinarian to do the procedure, using anesthesia.
